When you have a fever and chills, the last thing you want to do is leave your bed to go to the doctor. With advances in technology, you don’t have to. You can get the health care you need from the comfort of your home. Click here to learn more.

Driving yourself over to your doctor’s office when you’re feeling under the weather seems impossible, right? The good news is that you may not have to.

At Pro-Health Urgent Care of Midland, our skilled and experienced urgent care providers in Midland, Michigan, offer telehealth appointments so you get the expert medical care you need without leaving home.

Here’s what you should know about getting medical care from home and how telehealth appointments can work for you.

All about telehealth

Telehealth is a form of health care that allows you to get many of the services you need without a trip to your health care provider’s office. Instead, you “visit” with your provider by video call or telephone call. You can communicate securely and privately and even upload photos if needed.

Though it’s always nice to “see” you during a virtual visit, you don’t need the internet to participate in telehealth. Talking over the phone works, too. Telehealth also can include communications between you and your provider by email or text.

Whether you need a diagnosis for a rash, a referral, or a prescription refill, telehealth allows you to communicate with your provider from the comfort of your home (or office or any other place that’s more convenient for you).

Can I get care from home?

Yes, you can get the care you need from the comfort of your home. Our urgent care specialists can meet with you through our telehealth platform if you’re unable to come to the office. We specialize in medical matters that benefit from immediate care like:

Telehealth visits offer many benefits. In addition to saving you time and money, it also protects you and us from infectious germs.

Telehealth isn’t an option in cases where an in-person physical exam or test is required. If you have a broken bone or serious cut, get to our urgent care office as soon as possible. If you have chest pain, difficulty breathing, or a head injury, you need to call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.

What to expect with a telehealth appointment

You can expect the same patient-centered care during a telehealth visit as you’d expect from an in-office visit. We recommend that you go to a quiet and private room when meeting with one of our providers by video or phone so we can communicate clearly and openly. For video calls, use a space with good lighting.

As with any in-office appointment, we first ask detailed questions about your health concerns. We may also ask for some objective data, like your temperature, weight, and height. We review your medical history and the kind of medications you take at home.

We can diagnose and make treatment recommendations through telehealth. However, we may need you to come to the office for testing or treatment if you have a condition we can’t treat virtually.

Our goal is to make sure you get the care you need from a place that works best for you. That’s why we offer telehealth services for many health concerns. If you need medical care and don’t have the time or energy to get to the office, we can help. Call us or book a telehealth appointment online now.
